Sonoma Art School … Reinvented

SAS 2004 - Hugo McCloud teaching camp in a barn in Geyserville.

In 2003 I founded Sonoma Art School (SAS) after our family moved to Healdsburg from the Bay Area. With support from the community, I was able to establish a successful, year-round art school for youth for 6 years.

One of our highlights from those early years was bringing in Hugo McCloud, an emerging artist instructor from Oakland. He and his small team offered a summer art camp in a local winemaker's barn in Geyserville. With McCloud’s guidance, the students created captivating, abstract works of art on copper panels using screens, paint, hammers, ferric oxide and other mediums. The pieces they created were spectacular and still hang on our walls today! Today, McCloud is an established and acclaimed artist. We were so lucky to have him for our students back then..

With a new team of experienced instructors, Sonoma Art School offers a variety of artistic experiences through pop-up events, artists-in-residence workshops, classes, workshops and camps. Please stay tuned as we continue our original mission of engaging our communities through creative fun!
